چکیده

The Grid supports the sharing and coordinated use of resources in dynamic heterogeneous distributed environments. The effective use of a Grid requires the definition of an approach to manage the heterogeneity of the involved resources that can include computers, data, network facilities and software tools provided by different organizations. This issue get more importance when complex applications, such as data-intensive simulations and data mining applications, executed on a Grid. This paper is concerned with heterogeneous resource management in Grid-based data mining applications. It discusses how resources are represented and managed in the KNOWLEDGE GRID and how XML-based metadata are used to describe data mining tools, data sources, mining models and execution plans, and how those metadata are used for the design and execution of distributed data mining applications on Grids.

Distributed Parallel Processing Based on Master/Worker Model in Heterogeneous Computing Environment

Due to the complexity and varying requirements of the applications to utilize large-scale computing resources, there are several issues such as aggregating heterogeneous computing resources, easy-touse programming model and fault-tolerant mechanism that need to be addressed. This paper presents a general distributed parallel processing architecture based on master/worker model, and it can aggre...

The Effect of Semantic Constraints on Ontology Alignments using Neural Network

Improvement of informative and telecommunication technologies have caused to create much heterogeneous information. In addition with increasing various information resources in ontology formats, the importance of managing these heterogeneous resources is increased. Despite most matchers use different measures for finding the mappings, some semantic inconsistencies in final alignment are inevita...

Self-management of ambient intelligence systems: a pure agent-based approach

Ambient Intelligence systems (AmI) are normally composed of networked heterogeneous devices with critical resource limitations. One of the biggest requirements of AmI systems is that they should be capable of self-management in order to adapt their behavior and resources to environmental conditions and variable device resources. Autonomous agents are a good option to endow AmI systems with self...

Resource and Application Models for Advanced Grid Schedulers

As Grid computing is becoming an inevitable future, managing, scheduling and monitoring dynamic, heterogeneous resources will present new challenges. Solutions will have to be agile and adaptive, support self-organization and autonomous management, while maintaining optimal resource utilisation. Presented in this paper are basic principles and architectural concepts for efficient resource alloc...

The Probabilistic Resource Space Model Theory and Experiment

The development of World Wide Web requires a semantic data model to effectively manage the contents of its heterogeneous resources. This challenges traditional data models, which are mainly for managing structured resources or relatively simple data objects. Classification is one of the most basic methods to organize and manage resources in the real world. The Resource Space Model RSM is a sema...

Towards an ontology based large repository for managing heterogeneous knowledge resources

Knowledge based applications require linguistic, terminological and ontological resources. These applications are used to fulfill a set of tasks such as semantic indexing, knowledge extraction from text, information retrieval, etc. Using these resources and combining them for the same application is a tedious task with different levels of complexity. This requires their representation in a comm...
